No suspect yet and no idea as to the motive in the shooting deaths Tuesday of 36 year old Billy Clay Payne, jr and 23 year old Billie Jean Hayworth. WMCT Radio received an update Thursday afternoon from Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece. He reported that interviews are being conducted as the investigation continues with the assistance of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Meanwhile, an account has been set up at Elizabethton Federal Savings Bank to receive donations for the 6 month old baby boy Tyler that is now in his maternal grandmothers care. The account is listed in Martha Hayworth's name. The families of Payne and Hayworth are appreciative of any donations.

State Representative Scotty Campbell reminds students that the winter test dates for the ACT and SAT are fast approaching. While some students may be nervous about how the upcoming exams could affect their college options, the Tennessee Electronic Library (TEL) has the tools they need to succeed. TEL is an online library funded by the Tennessee General Assembly and the US Institute of Museum and Library Services.
WMCT Radio will present a Community Forum addressing the problem of Methamphetamine Abuse in our County. The Community Forum, broadcast "live" on February 17th at 2PM, will feature area prosecutors, law enforcement representatives and other professionals. They will be discussing how Meth affects individuals and families. We encourage you to tune in.
Chuck Walsh, who wrote the book "A Month of Tomorrows", loosely based on Rubin Stout's life, will be at the Johnson County Public Library for a book signing. The date is set for February 4th, 2012 from 11AM through 1PM. Walsh has deeply rooted Johnson County family connections.
